Makerspace General Policies

Makerspace Policies

Eligible Users: Currently enrolled UC students and current faculty and staff members. Children are not allowed in the Makerspace.
Please notifiy a staff member to check in to use the space. A valid UC ID is required to enter the space.
Please read and sign a User Policy Agreement before using any equipment.
Food and beverages are not permitted in the space.
Users are only permitted in the space during open hours and when Makerspace Staff are present.
Projects being created for course assignments will take priority over other projects.
Projects must comply with all federal and state laws and all University policies, including laws governing copyright, patent, or trademark.
Use of the space will be first-come, first-served, unless previously arranged by Makerspace staff.
Users may only use one piece of equipment at a time.
Users are responsible for any equipment borrowed from the Makerspace. The equipment must be returned in the condition in which it was borrowed. Damaged equipment will result in loss of use privilege.
Grover M. Hermann is not responsible for damage to any materials or consumables used in the Makerspace.
Materials brought into the Makerspace by users must be approved by the staff to ensure the material conforms to the requirements of the equipment being used.
Users must follow the University of the Cumberlands Code of Conduct published in the Attitude and Conduct section of the current Student Handbook.
Projects which are harmful/dangerous to others/self, projects that create weapons, and projects that display obscene, offensive, harassing, illegal drugs, or sexually explicit language or images are prohibited.
Grover M. Hermann Library and University of the Cumberlands are not responsible for damage to personal property.
The Makerspace is a learning and discovery space. The makerspace will not be used for the production of any item(s) being sold for monetary gain.
