Can I download EBSCO e-books?

You can download many of the EBSCO e-books. Most have a checkout of 7 days. You cannot checkout an e-book if it has already been checked out by another patron. PsycBooks cannot be downloaded as a full book, however you may download individual chapters as PDFs.

Can I take notes on my checked-out EBSCO e-book?

It is not recommended that you take notes within the EBSCO e-book. When the checkout expires any data such as notes within that e-book will no longer be accessible.

 

Why is my e-book is not opening in Adobe Digital Editions?

 Have you created an Abode ID and logged into Adode Digital Editions with this ID?

 You can create it here by clicking the "Don't have an Adobe ID?" option at the website below.

 If you already have verified your Adobe ID, are the e-books trying to open in another program like Adobe Reader?

To set your computer to open the e-books in Adobe Digital Editions by default use the instructions below.

 Windows 7:
1. Click the Start button, then 'Control Panel'.
2. Click 'Default Programs'.
3. Click 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program'.
4. In the list that appears, locate '.acsm', click on it to highlight it, then click 'Change program'.
5. Select 'Adobe Digital Editions' and click 'OK'.
6. Repeat steps 4-5 for the '.epub' extension as well.

Windows Vista or XP:
1. Click the Start button, then 'Control Panel'.
2. Click 'Program'.
3. Click 'Default Programs'.
4. Click 'Make a File Type Always Open in a Specific Program'.
5. In the list that appears, locate '.acsm', click on it to highlight it, then click 'Change program'.
6. Select 'Adobe Digital Editions' and click 'OK'.
7. Repeat steps 5-6 for the '.epub' extension as well.

Mac OS:
1. Hold the Ctrl button and click on the .acsm file.
2. Click 'Open With', then click 'Other...'.
3. In the list of programs displayed, select Adobe Digital Editions.
4. Check the 'Always Open With' box so the .acsm file type will always open in ADE.
5. Repeat this process for the .epub extension as well.
